Sonali M. Smith, MD

Professor of Medicine
Director, Lymphoma Program

Dr. Sonali Smith is Professor of Medicine in the Section of Hematology/Oncology at The University of Chicago and Director of the Lymphoma Program. She is Vice-Chair of the SWOG Lymphoma Committee. Her clinical research interest is in the development of new agents and rational combinations in the management of both treatment-naïve and relapsed/refractory lymphomas. She has a special interest in the prognosis and biology of lymphoma, with an ultimate aim to personalize approaches based on individual risk factors. Dr. Smith serves on multiple national committees focused on improving treatment options for patients with lymphoma, including the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Lymphoma Research Foundation (where she serves on the Scientific Advisory Board), ALLIANCE, Center for International Bone Marrow Transplant Registry (where she is co-chair of the working group for Lymphoma) and NCI Lymphoma Steering Committee.

Brian Chiu, PhD

Associate Professor (Epidemiology)
Department of Public Health Sciences

Dr. Chiu is part of the epidemiology research core for the Hoogland Lymphoma Biobank. His main research interests include cancer etiology and prevention, environment and lifestyle, as well as racial/ethnic disparities in incidence and survival of hematopoietic cancers. He is also interested in epidemiologic and molecular studies of hematopoietic cancers, particularly lymphoma and multiple myeloma.

Justin Kline, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine
Lymphoma Program

Dr. Justin Kline is a hematologist/oncologist specializing in  lymphoma. His clinical interests include allogeneic stem cell transplantation (bone marrow or blood stem cells transplanted from a donor) in the treatment of these malignant diseases. He is an Ullman Scholar and Hoogland Award recipient.

Peter Riedell, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine 
Lymphoma Program

Peter Riedell, MD, provides comprehensive care for adults with Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. In particular, he has a special interest in optimizing the role of stem cell transplantation in the treatment of relapsed and aggressive lymphomas.

Girish Venkataraman, MD

Assistant Professor of Medicine 
Department of Pathology

Dr. Girish Venkataraman is a hematopathologist focused on lymphoma. He completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, Illinois, in 2008 and went on to complete his hematopathology fellowship at the NCI/NIH in 2010.
